On the 19th of March, 2008 Kaunas club “Los Patrankos” was the location where “KTU Talents Bank” took place for the fourth time. It is one of the events of KTU Career Days held to encourage development of students’ self-expression, spread of creativity and maintaining the contact with potential employers. The contestants were 17 students from different faculties of Kaunas University of Technology. Before participating in the event they had to take IQ tests, attend a simulation of a job interview with a psychologist of KTU Career Centre – Aistė Mazgelytė, answer questions given by various companies in writing.
Students were competing in three types of phases during “KTU Talents Bank”. The first exercise was the presentation one-self, the second consisted team work and the third was generating a creative idea. The committee which evaluated the participants consisted of representatives from companies and the staff from KTU faculties of Economics and Management, Telecommunications and Electronics. Members of the committee had the opportunity to ask questions of their interest.
Six best contestants competed in the final phase. They generated and presented their creative, occupational and business ideas.
These KTU students were acknowledged as the winners by the committee:
1st place – Tomas Pagirys (Faculty of Economics and Management, 3rd course)
2nd place – Karolis Tautkevičius (Faculty of Informatics, 4th course)
3rd place – Judita Urbonaitė (Faculty of Social Science, 3rd course)
T.Pagirys amazed the committee by his original presentation of himself, brilliant charisma, sharp mind, high self-esteem, the ability to react spontaneously and creatively to various situations, support his creative, occupational and business idea.
All of the contestants were rewarded by valuable prizes by the sponsors of “KTU Talents Bank 2008” – books from “Baltos lankos” bookstore, souvenirs from “Samsung”, “Tele-2”, “Procter & Gamble”, “Senukai”. “Sanitex” joined the organizers of the event by providing financial support.
The winner of “KTU Talents Bank” Tomas Pagirys received the opportunity of a personal meeting with the finance expert Bodo Schaefer, also a prize by “Topocentras” – stationary PC ITECH, a mobile phone by “Samsung” and also an mp3 player by “Senukai”.
2nd place winner Karolis Tautkevičius received an invitation to a 3-day seminar with the finance expert Bodo Schaefer “The Road to Financial Freedom”, a prize by “Fortakas” – Canon printer and a mobile phone by “Samsung”.
3rd place winner Judita Urbonaitė was rewarded with valuable prizes by “Samsung”, “Fortakas”, “Procter & Gamble” and “Senukai”.
Public sympathy award went to Ugnius Mačys (Faculty of Fundamental Science, 3rd course) for which he received a prize by “Samsung” – mobile phone Samsung G600.
During the breaks the audience was entertained by KTU dance group “Lotos”, listen to songs by Renata Novogreckaitė and watch the improvisation by actors of Raudondvaris Culture Centre drama studio.
