“KTU Career Days 2009 Afterparty” this year presents the global-level minimal techno star from Germany – Robert Henke (aka Monolake). Arriving to Lithuania together with the visual art performer Tarrik Barri, Robert Henke will deliver a spectacular concert-comparable performance to the intellectual youth. It’s an extravagant, visually stimulating musical project which will definitely astonish everyone in the audience.
The discography of R. Henke – initiator and currently the only person perpetuating the musical project “Monolake” – is really astounding; the same applies to his creative expression. Titled as a cornerstone of Berlin’s electronic music scene, Robert has released five personal albums already and seven albums with the alias “Monolake”. The most successful ones are considered “Hong Kong” – the first album from Monolake, released by the legendary techno recording company “Chain Reaction”, and the other albums “Gravity” and “Polygon Cities”, released by the self-established “Imbalance Computer Music“. Music from Monolake can be compared to painting with sound – regular words are not enough to describe it. The artist himself uses the expressions like space, time, structure. “I’m a chaotic personality, who doesn’t like it and although chaos is exciting, I seek for form and structure to control it during the creative process,” – explains Robert Henke.
The talented artist from Germany has delivered dozens of live performances all over the world, while the sound installations, developed by him, have been presented in shrines of art, ranging from MOMA (New York) to “Tate Modern” (London). “Love and deep devotion to electronic sound – it’s a compensation for the incapability to play any classical instrument. However, it allowed me to find my way into music”, – speaks up R. Henke, who has also realized his creative potential in the long run by contributing to the development of Ableton - one of the most successful software sound systems being used by global-level artists like Richie Hawtin, Hot Chip and John Digweed.
The event “KTU Career Days 2009 Afterparty” takes place on 18th March in the club “Combo” (Kaunas). Along with guests from Germany – Monolake and T. Barri – the performers list also includes Lithuanian artists: Gvidas B. from team “Partyzanai”, the never-resting “Metal on Metal” and “Re:Fiction”. Last year it was Apparat, this year Monolake – the yearly Afterparty of KTU Career Days becomes the musical event of the year in the city.
